Helen Reddy - "I Am Woman"
This was Helen Reddy's first number one song. The United Nations declared 1975 the International Women's Year and chose this song as the theme. Helen Reddy won a Grammy Award for this song and in her acceptance speech she said, "I'd like to thank God because SHE made everything possible".

This is a song about a child Joni had when she was a struggling singer in Toronto. She was not married and in those days, it was not okay for women to have children if they were single. Joni put the baby up for adoption. The song is very beautiful, and very sad. It's very personal.
